Poverty or wealth doesn't really make an effect on someone's potential to succeed. If you have determination you will always be able to achieve what you want.

Poverty: People who live in poverty don't have the same chances to succeed in life because they might not get a proper education and that is key in success in life
Wealth: People who are wealthy are offered a great education and don't necessarily need a good job to succeed

Yes. To succeed in a job, usually you have to have money to go to college. Being rich isn't everything. If you set goals, then you can reach them. To succeed is to be happy with what you have accomplished.

There would be an effect on your potential to succeed if you were poor because say you wanted to go to college or start a business you wouldn't be able to without financial aid.

Poverty could make it harder to come to your goal. But it does not make it impossible because you could not afford some of the things that you want to but there are ways to get around it. Such as getting a job, saving up your money or not get things that you want. Wealth could help you get what you want and not have to work as hard as someone who is poverty.

If a person is poor then they have less of a chance to be successful because they start at the bottom and have to make their way up, which would be hard. Unlike the people who are already on top, it would be easier for them to be successful. They wouldn't have to work as hard.

Poor people have to work to get what they want so they end up being harder workers in life but when your rich you can afford everything and you don't really have to work for things.

People that are more wealthy and are better off than others, may have more of the tools and stuff to succeed because of the options they have open. They can buy whatever they need to succeed in what they're going after but everyone has potential if they're really striving toward a goal. Those who persevere but don't have the money to pursue themselves will get really far too because they won't give up until they've reached their goal. It would be easier if you had the money to fund yourself but without determination you won't get very far.

The amount of money your family has is a big factor in what will happen in your future. Someone who is poor and doesn't have a lot of spending money will not have the same opportunities as someone who is wealthy and can afford to spend money. For example, a poor family probably couldn't pay for their child to participate in athletics, music or clubs. It may not seem it, but doing extracurricular activities is extremely important, because it helps you make friends and be in a healthy environment. People who don't participate in any groups often end up with bad grades, and making bad choices. Wealth also helps when applying to college. People who are in poverty probably will not attend college, which won't provide them the education they need to get good jobs and succeed.

Being poor though can get you pitty so rich people feel bad for you and give a dollar or two so you can go to mcdonalds and buy a burger, then you accidentally win the jackpot, so you are then a millionaire and then you can buy all of the things that will make you succesful.

Poverty or wealth has an effect on a persons potential to succeed to a point. People who have more money could get into better schools, and could have a better base for themselves to start out, like in college for example. But then again just because someone doesn't have a lot of money or the same privileges as their peers doesn't mean that they can't be just as good or better than someone who does have a lot of money. Today people who come from families JUST getting by work and make money to send themselves to college, and become successful in life. So no I don't think wealth or poverty has an effect on if people can succeed or not.

True, Colleen, but less wealthy people often feel as if they have to prove themselves more, whereas wealthier people often have egos the size of a trumpet player's.

for rich people it's easier to succeed or get to where they want to be because they have money to help, even though money isn't everything and you can still succeed without it but it will be a challenge.

Success has to do with what you want in life, Jack, not how much money you have! You should base how successful a person is by how they act, not their bank account.

What about people who have no money but work and send themselves to college, like Paul Lepage for example. No I don't agree with his political views but I do think it really shows his character that he sent himself to college. I really do like the way you expressed your opinion, it was very well said. (:

I agree with Laura that wealth is a contributor to someone's success to a point. And Lucy just reflects on that a little more, determination is very key. More important than having money and being set for the rest of your life. It's like doing something you don't necessarily enjoy but because you have that option you do it. People who live in poverty and who aren't as well off don't have so many choices so the things they want they strive for because they know they have to work for it if they want it.

Laura,
You're right, people can work their way into college, but wealth can also contribute a lot because people are given more opportunities depending on the amount of money they have. I'm not saying it's impossible that poor people can be successful, because I know that they can be very successful, I'm just saying that social class is a factor. :)

I said I feel like money does have en effect on peoples ability to succeed in life, to an extent. It depends on the person really, and it depends on the effort you put into your goals. I'm kind of in the middle, I agree that your wealth does effect your capability to do some things but if you have enough will to do something it doesn't really matter.
