You have been learning about specific strategies for keeping safe  and not becoming a target, at school, on the street  and on the Internet.  We have talked about staying alert, walking with confidence, dating abuse, sexual assault, internet safety, sexting, and password safety.  SARSSM also spoke to you about sexual assault.  This included a lesson focusing on stereotyping, the victim as well as the rapist.  The perpetrator is always responsible, not the victim.  You learned about the importance of supporting the victim not the perpetrator.  We often tend to let our emotions lead us instead of common sense.  We need to listen to our instincts.  If it doesn't feel or seem right, it probably isn't.   Remember it takes the average person at least three minutes to figure out what to do in a crisis situation and by that time he/she could be a statistic.  It is important to have a plan.   I am hoping that you now have a plan.

One of the keys to good mental health is understanding that you have control over your own thinking and actions and have no control over how others feel and act.

How can having a plan help you from becoming a victim of a crime?    Please include how having a plan will help you to keep your Health Triangle balanced on all three sides (physical, mental/emotional and social).

I think that people should be aware of their surroundings and should always be prepared, for example: You should always have a plan when you go somewhere where you think there could be a potential for danger and a plan could help you know what you're going to do.

Having a plan can help you from becoming a victim of a crime because you will be prepared so if you do get in a bad situation you will know what to do. Also, if you stay safe you won't get in a bad situation so you will keep your Health Triangle balanced on all 3 sides.

Having a plan will help you from becoming a victim because, if you are attacked you will know how to react and not stall. Three minutes to decide what to do if you have a plan that eliminates the three minutes. Having a plan will keep your health triangle healthy because you will have a plan if you are attacked and you'll know what to do.

I think that having a plan will help you in a bad situation because it will allow you to know what to do and not be panicked. On the physical side on the health triangle, this could help you not get harmed or hurt physically because you will know what to do if you are attacked by an abuser. This will also help you with the mental and emotional side of the triangle because you won't feel unsafe and you will feel a lot more confident with yourself. This helps you with social health because you would be able to say no to somebody if they were harming you and hopefully they would have good social health and listen to you if you don't want to do something.

I agree with whoever Bob is and antonio because if you have a plan and are aware of your surroundings, then you will be prepared for whatever is coming at you. Your physical, emotional, and mental health play a big factor in your safety.

Having a plan means your being prepared if your in a dangerous situation and you don't know what to do and can result in being a victim.

Well, if you have a plan that's just one more way to keep yourself safe. In an emergency you should be prepared, with an emergency exit, and an emergency exit.

Having a plan can affect your safety because it can help you get out of or prevent dangerous situations and prevent you from being a victim. If you are smart with everyday decisions, like where you leave your keys or locking your car door, it could keep you from getting abducted. Having a plan can also help you with your health triangle. On physical health, one of the aspects is to avoid unnecessary risks. Avoiding unnecessary risks can include not getting in the car with someone that you don't know well, this can help your physical health. Your mental health can also be affected by having a plan. Under mental health there is facing problems with a realistic attitude. If you have a plan in what to do in a crisis situation then you will be able to face situations with a realistic attitude which will help your mental health. Finally, under social health there is to learn to communicate effectively. If y ou have a plan, heaving good social health because if you saw someone being abused, you would be able to communicate appropriately to either the autorities or the abuser.

A plan is always helpful because a having plan always means you are prepared to react in a specific manner during a certain situation that could otherwise stop you from knowing what to do.

Having a plan can help you from being a victim of a crime because you will know what to do and you'll be prepared. Also, you won't have to be a victim in the first place because you'll know what to not do. Having a plan will help your Health Triangle stay balanced. You won't get hurt by anybody and nobody will give you alcohol or drugs, which helps your physical side. It helps your social health because you won't be depressed and blame yourself for what you did. Also, it helps you with social health because the plan will teach you how to resolve a problem effectively.

Having a plan can help you from becoming a victim of a crime in many ways. It takes the average person three minutes to react to a crisis, having a plan helps you react sooner and get out of the situation. Being aware of your surroundings is key in being safe. Having a plan also keeps your health triangle balanced. You can face problems with realistic a attitude, prevents you from getting hurt, gives everyone peace of mind, and helps you learn to say no, and develops good decision making skills. The plan also prevents you from situations where you become a target.

I think that having a plan will help you not become a statistic and allow you to successfully help others in their time of need. If you have a plan when someone tries to assault you will be able to react in a time of panic and allow you to get away safely and get the police or another adult or authority figure. Having a plan can help you with your mental and emotional because if you were ever raped that is really hard to recover from and having a plan would prevent that. Also, if you have a good plan you will have a plan to avoid drugs and alcohol which would keep you away from unnecessary risks and allow you to think clearly in a crisis situation. It will also allow you to be socially healthy because when you are in a crisis situation you will need all the communication skills you already have. All of these skills will allow you to have a successful plan and live a happy and safe life.

Having a plan can help someone in a crisis situation to think clearly. Also, a plan can help me from becoming a victim. My plan would include not taking drugs for my physical health. And not acting all scared, for my social protection.

I plan to walk with a cell phone, head up, and preferably with friends. I'll be cautious with people that I do not know.

I agree with what Elizabeth said, I also think that having a plan will also help to keep your health triangle in balance because having confidence about your safety has an important influence on your health triangle. I also agree with Zoe on how she said it is important to have a plan so that you will be able react more rapidly than the average 3 minutes that it takes people to react in an emergency situation.

I agree with Keirstan because making small adjustments to everyday decisions- like where you keep your keys-can make all the difference, if you are smart with everyday decisions-like locking a door-it helps you stay safe. I also agree with Elizabeth because having a plan helps keep your health triangle balanced.

I agree with Ian because he is right when he says having a plan is a smart idea because then when tough situations come about you are able to react and avoid trouble without even thinking and just reacting which is always a better way to react which makes his plan the safest plan available.

I agree with Zoe because she is right when she said it takes the average person 3 minutes to react to a difficult or dangerous situation and she said that to reduce your chances of being harmed and increase your chances of getting away to safety she said that being aware of your surroundings is a key to doing this.
